Our Executive Management
At CPSA, we have the client—and only the client—in mind.
Our reasons for becoming financial professionals are deeply personal. We repeatedly saw many friends and family struggling to find the help they needed to map out their financial future. We are confident that with our understanding of personal finance, coupled with our training as financial professionals, we can help people better prepare for the future. After more than 40 years in the business, we have developed a reputation for educating individuals in an easy-to-understand manner so they can grasp personal finance and use those concepts to pursue their financial objectives. We feel a commitment to our community.
Jerry Floyd, Principal, President
Jerry Floyd started in the financial services business in the early 1970s with the goal of assisting public safety employees with their life and disability insurance options. He currently serves as the President of CPSA. He is a retired Captain from the San Jose Fire Department where he also served as a labor union officer for many years. During his career, he served California firefighters on a local, state, and national level to enhance their health, safety and working conditions. Over the past 35 years, Jerry, along with the CPSA team, has served as the largest benefit administrators for over 50,000 public safety members and their families. Jerry and his wife are also involved in many charitable causes including volunteering with the American Cancer Society, Carmel Film Festival, First Tee of Monterey County, Alzheimer’s Association and various other notable charities. Jerry served as President of the Board of Directors of Catholic Charities in San Jose.
Richard Floyd, M. CFC CSA, Principal, Director of Marketing
Rick Floyd is the founding President of CPSA and currently holds the position of Chief Marketing Officer. He has been a licensed Life and Disability agent since 1972. Rick holds a Master’s degree in financial counseling and has extensive knowledge in personal financial planning, long term disability and long term care products. He is a retired Captain from Santa Clara County Fire department where he served as a union auditing trustee and on the health and safety committee. He sat on the Redmond Symposium safety committee that obtained a federal OSHA “stop-order” on further production against both Scott aviation and American LaFrance until their product deficiencies were mitigated. On his days off, Rick has been active in Boy Scouting for the past 35 years, He is a life member of the National Eagle Scout Association and, as a Scoutmaster of two troops, has assisted more than 25 young men obtain the Eagle rank including his son and two grandsons. He is also a private pilot. Rick has been married to Jo for 47 years and attributes much of his success in life to a very supportive and loving spouse. He has 2 children and three grandchildren who are all currently serving in the U.S. armed forces.
Matt Floyd, Principal, Chief Financial Officer
Matt Floyd is the Co-Founder and a Senior Partner of CPSA and currently serves as CPSA’s Chief Financial Officer. He began his financial services career in the early 90s while attending college in Sacramento. Matt earned his undergraduate degree in Business Administration and is a former Amador County Deputy Sheriff and member of the Sheriff office SWAT and Dive Teams. Matt served as a member of the University of Pacific (UOP) Family Institute Advisory Council and is an Eagle Scout. As a long time, football and golf coach Matt brings coaching and coaching philosophy into many aspects of his life and business.
In his spare time, Matt, and his wife of 26 years, enjoy travel and many outdoor hobbies together but none they are more passionate about than golf. Matt is the father to three children who are all currently serving in the United States Military. Matt’s wife is a Stage 3 Breast Cancer survivor and Matt remains involved in many philanthropy projects for Breast Cancer awareness, early detection, and treatment.
